Chelsea’s teenage sensation Estevao Willian opened his international account in style on Thursday night, scoring a spectacular overhead kick in Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Chile in a World Cup qualifier at the Maracana.

The 18-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Palmeiras this summer, has already shown flashes of brilliance in the Premier League, providing a memorable assist in the 5-1 win over West Ham. While his finishing has sometimes been inconsistent, Estevao proved his instinctive quality when he reacted quickest to a rebound and converted from close range in the 38th minute.

His strike not only gave Brazil the lead but also etched his name in the record books. Estevao is now the eighth-youngest player ever to score for Brazil, reaching the milestone quicker than Neymar, who needed 55 more days to net his first international goal.

Only legends such as Pelé, Ronaldo, and Edu remain ahead of him on the all-time youngest scorers list.

Further goals from Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Guimarães sealed Brazil’s comfortable 3-0 win, extending their strong start to the qualifiers.

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti substituted Estevao after 66 minutes, and he now faces a decision on whether to start the youngster again in their next clash against Bolivia.

Back at club level, Chelsea fans will be hoping the wonderkid carries his confidence into the Premier League when the Blues face Brentford on September 13.
