Chelsea have reportedly resumed talks to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, with the 21-year-old pushing for a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

According to TBR Football, the Blues have renewed their interest in the Argentine attacker, who was previously on their radar during the January transfer window. Garnacho is one of five players understood to have informed Manchester United of their desire to leave the club ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Garnacho No Longer in Amorim’s Plans

Garnacho has fallen out of favour with United head coach Ruben Amorim, with sources close to the player confirming that he sees no long-term future at the club. The relationship between the player and manager reportedly deteriorated towards the end of last season.

Despite producing 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25, Garnacho was benched during the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur and left out of the final matchday squad against Aston Villa. Tensions grew further after he was reportedly humiliated in front of teammates and later sparked controversy by posting a photo in an Aston Villa shirt bearing Marcus Rashford’s name.

Chelsea in Advanced Talks with Garnacho’s Camp

Chelsea have maintained contact with Garnacho’s representatives and are said to be holding fresh negotiations over a possible move. With a £40 million price tag reportedly placed on the player by Manchester United, Chelsea are expected to be able to meet that valuation.

The Blues are continuing their summer rebuild under new manager Enzo Maresca, who is focused on reshaping the club’s attacking line. Chelsea have already secured the signings of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens, but are still in the market for an elite winger.

Squad Reshuffle Could Make Room for Garnacho

Chelsea are actively offloading players who no longer fit into their tactical plans. Noni Madueke is close to sealing a move to Arsenal, while Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, and Raheem Sterling are also likely to depart. Their exits would free up both wage space and funds for Garnacho’s acquisition.

Premier League Rivals Also Interested

Aston Villa are also reportedly interested in signing Garnacho, but Chelsea are believed to have the upper hand, with the allure of Champions League football next season playing a significant role in the player’s preference.

Manchester United are open to selling the Argentine winger this summer as they continue reshaping the squad under Amorim. Should a formal bid be submitted, a deal could move quickly given Garnacho’s clear intention to leave and Chelsea’s readiness to invest.
