Charly Boy Defends Peter Obi, Slams Deji Adeyanju Over Bribery Allegation

Maverick entertainer and social activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy (Area Fada), has strongly criticized activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju over his recent allegations against former presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Adeyanju had accused Obi of attempting to bribe him during the 2023 presidential election campaign, claiming the Labour Party candidate offered him money in a brown envelope after inviting him for a private discussion.

Reacting on X (formerly Twitter), Charly Boy dismissed Adeyanju’s claims as false, describing them as desperate attempts to chase clout and tarnish Obi’s reputation.

In a fiery post, Charly Boy accused Adeyanju of being willing to “sell himself for 30 pieces of silver,” stressing that he would never allow Obi’s name to be dragged into the mud.

Charly Boy’s Statement

Writing partly in Pidgin English, the entertainer said:

“Deji Adeyanju, na wa for you o! You don carry your mouth go where e no belong. Na lie lie and yeye talk you dey yarn about Peter Obi just to please your paymasters. Obi na man wey still give millions of Nigerians hope say better Nigeria dey possible. But you wey suppose dey stand for truth don turn errand boy for chop-money politics.”

Charly Boy further cautioned Adeyanju that such “reckless and irresponsible behavior” could have legal consequences.

Standing With Obi

He added that Obi remains one of the few politicians giving Nigerians hope for a better country, insisting that detractors cannot destroy his credibility through baseless allegations.

“Area Fada dey talk am clear, we no go gree make you drag Obi inside gutter. This fight na for a new Nigeria, no be for your yeye clout chasing,” Charly Boy concluded.
