Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, has expressed frustration after the Premier League champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Monaco in Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League clash.

The result marked City’s first dropped points in the competition this season, leaving Haaland openly critical of the team’s display.

The Norwegian forward put City ahead early in the game, but Jordan Teze struck back to level for Monaco. Haaland restored the visitors’ lead with a powerful header, only for Eric Dier’s late penalty to deny Pep Guardiola’s men victory.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Haaland admitted City’s performance fell below expectations.

“Of course it doesn’t feel good, because we didn’t win,” Haaland said. “We made unnecessary mistakes in the second half. We weren’t good enough, and we didn’t deserve to win — that’s why we only got a point.”

The draw leaves Manchester City with work to do in their Champions League group as they aim to maintain momentum in their title defence.
