August 19,2022

Less than a week after MARCA reported Manchester United were interested in signing Casemiro, the Brazilian has officially left Real Madrid and signed for the English club.

The Red Devils began to make their move, slowly but surely, at the beginning of August

It’s then that United understood Casemiro was open to a transfer, as he felt his time at Los Blancos was coming to an end.

No doubt, Casemiro‘s new contract also played a key role in the decision.

The Brazilian will receive around double (just under) his current salary for the next four seasons with an option for another, while his contract with Madrid expired in 2025

Casemiro at Madrid: 18 titles and 46.6 million in profit

Manchester United made sure to approach Casemiro first, as they believed his excellent relationship with Madrid management would help facilitate a move.

Florentino Perez in particular is very fond of the Brazilian, who helped him during the pandemic.

When Sergio Ramos, who was upset with how his contract renewal was going, wasn’t keen to take a second pay cut, Casemiro acted as a link between the squad and the president.

As a result, Madrid understood the Brazilian’s intention right away as he showed no hesitation in pushing for a move to Manchester.

Given what the midfielder has accomplished in Spain, they allowed him to decide his own future, especially since the proposed contract was almost impossible to turn down.

Real Madrid will receive around 60 million euros and 10 more in variables for a player that was signed for 6.5 million and briefly appeared for Castilla

He brought in 600,000 euros when he joined Porto on loan, and then cost another 7.5 million when he was brought back to Real Madrid after the Portuguese side exercised their option to buy him.

In other words, Casemiro cost 13.4 million euros, meaning his sale will generate a profit of 46.6 million euros after winning 18 titles (five Champions League titles, three LaLiga Santander titles, three Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, three Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey).

Official statement from Real Madrid

Real Madrid C. F. and Manchester United have agreed terms for the transfer of Carlos Henrique Casemiro.

Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to Casemiro, who is part of the club’s history.

Since he joined Real Madrid in January 2013 to play for Castilla at the age of 20, Casemiro has gone on to be one of the most transcendental players in one of the most significant and successful periods in our history. During his time as a Real Madrid player, he has won 18 trophies: 5 European Cups, 3 Club World Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 3 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups. On an individual level, he was named Best Player of the UEFA Super Cup final won a few days ago in Helsinki and has been nominated for the 2022 Ballon d’Or

In addition to this brilliant list of achievements, Casemiro will always be remembered by the madridistas as representing the values of our club. An exemplary player who has given his all for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid is and always will be his home, and we wish him and all his family the best of luck in this new chapter of his life

On Monday 22 August, at 11:30 am (CET), an institutional act of tribute and farewell to Casemiro will take place at Real Madrid City, with the presence of our club president, Florentino Pérez.

After this ceremony, Casemiro will appear before the media in the press room at Real Madrid City
