Popular Nigerian skit creator and livestreamer Carter Efe is facing intense scrutiny after a public dispute with his baby mama, Emmanuella, amid allegations of domestic abuse, emotional manipulation, and opportunism.

The controversy erupted after Carter announced on Instagram and X that he had been separated from Emmanuella for over a year, describing the period as one of emotional turmoil, financial hardship, and creative stagnation.

He claimed Emmanuella blocked him for five months and only reappeared after his recent rise as a Twitch streamer, gaining international recognition through collaborations with creators including American rapper DDG. Carter alleged that the relationship derailed his career and personal life, writing in an Instagram Story:

“This lady has frustrated my whole life to the extent I trend every day for beating a lady. For a good two years, I lost everything. I lost my mindset, I couldn’t think or shoot content, I got broke.”

He added that he had been unable to see his child for months and that relocating away from Emmanuella helped him regain stability and creative momentum. Carter also accused her of returning only after his career gained traction, calling her actions opportunistic.

However, his account was publicly contested by influencer JoJo of Lele, who accused Carter of repeated domestic abuse, claiming Emmanuella was forced out of their home multiple times. Activist and influencer VeryDarkMan also shared videos showing Emmanuella appearing distressed with swollen eyes, alleging past abuse by Carter and urging her to speak for herself.

Emmanuella responded on Instagram, disputing Carter’s claims and sharing her version of events. She said they had been together just days before his posts and accused him of misrepresenting their relationship. She also claimed that Carter restricted her personal and professional freedom, blocked her female friends, isolated her from family, and threatened her ahead of his social media posts.

The dispute has sparked widespread online debate, with opinions divided over the allegations of abuse, emotional manipulation, and opportunism. Carter Efe has not directly responded to the videos shared online.
