Authorities in Lagos State have opened an investigation into the sudden death of a Canadian citizen, identified only as Sullivan, who was discovered lifeless in his hotel room located in Victoria Island.
Reports indicate that the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of October 7, barely five days after the foreign guest checked into the facility on October 2.
A hotel staff member, who requested anonymity, said concerns arose when Sullivan failed to answer repeated phone calls. Staff later gained access to his room and found him lying motionless on the floor.
Following the discovery, the hotel’s Chief Security Officer alerted the Victoria Island Police Division at about 4:30 p.m.
Police detectives swiftly arrived, securing and examining the scene. According to a police source, there were no visible injuries or signs of struggle on the deceased, suggesting that foul play was not immediately suspected.
Sullivan’s body was later taken to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where a medical doctor officially confirmed his death. His remains have been deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy and further examination.
While early findings do not point to homicide, the Lagos State Police Command said investigations are still ongoing to uncover the exact cause of death.
