CAF 2025: Super Falcons Crowned Africa’s Women’s Team of the Year

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have once again stamped their authority on African football after being voted the Women’s National Team of the Year at the 2025 CAF Awards held on Wednesday, November 19, in Rabat, Morocco.

The nine-time African champions secured the prestigious honour following an exceptional season highlighted by their record-setting 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph. The Falcons clinched the title after a thrilling 3–2 victory over host nation Morocco in a fiercely contested final that demonstrated their experience, depth, and unyielding spirit.

This latest recognition marks the Super Falcons’ seventh CAF Women’s Team of the Year award, adding to previous wins in 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2023, and 2024.

In the final shortlist, the Nigerian side outshone Ghana’s Black Queens and Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses to claim the top prize.

The award further underscores Nigeria’s continued supremacy in women’s football across the continent. Their unbeaten WAFCON run and consistent dominance placed them firmly ahead of their rivals and solidified their status as Africa’s leading women’s team.
