Burna Boy Crowned Spotify’s Afrobeats Artist of the Year 2025 as Nigerians Dominate Global Chart

Global music streaming platform Spotify has unveiled its list of Top Afrobeats Artists of 2025, with Nigerian superstar Burna Boy taking the number one spot.

The ranking is a testament to Nigeria’s dominance in the global Afrobeats scene, as the entire top five positions are occupied by Nigerian artists. Rema secured the second spot, followed by Wizkid in third place. Asake and Ayra Starr, the fast-rising Roc Nation signee, completed the top five.

Notably, Davido, often mentioned among the “Afrobeats Big 3” alongside Wizkid and Burna Boy, was absent from the top list this year.

Spotify also released data on global Afrobeats consumption, showing the United States as the leading consumer, followed by Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Nigeria.

The announcement further solidifies Nigeria’s reputation as the powerhouse of Afrobeats, driving the genre’s global expansion and influence.
