Burna Boy Breaks Record as Africa’s Most-Streamed Artist on Spotify in 2025

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has set a new milestone as the African artist with the highest number of Spotify streams in a single year, amassing nearly 2 billion plays in 2025.

The “Ye” hitmaker recorded 1.986 billion streams, surpassing fellow African artists including Wizkid, Tyla, Rema, and Davido to top the continent’s streaming charts for the year.

Spotify’s 2025 streaming data shows that Wizkid ranked second with 1.81 billion streams, while South African singer Tyla secured third place with 1.67 billion streams. Nigerian stars Rema and Davido followed with 1.63 billion and 1.58 billion streams, respectively.

The rest of the top 10 included Asake (1.52B), Ayra Starr (1.47B), CKay (1.38B), Seyi Vibez (1.32B), and Mr Eazi (1.26B), highlighting the dominance of African artists on the global streaming platform.

Burna Boy’s record-breaking feat cements his status as one of Africa’s leading music exports and reflects the growing global influence of Afrobeats.
