Tensions are high in Enugu State as protests have erupted following the alleged murder of local musician Igbo Jah by a police inspector. The incident has sparked outrage among residents, with hundreds taking to the streets to demand justice.

Enugu police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe confirmed that the inspector involved has been arrested and that a comprehensive investigation is underway. Despite this, protests have quickly escalated, with crowds attempting to storm the anti-cult headquarters, which police officers on-site managed to defend.

Protesters, blocking key roads around the city, including Onu Asata, have set tires ablaze, sending plumes of smoke into the sky. Many are chanting slogans condemning police violence, while officers respond with teargas to disperse the crowds.

The demonstrations underscore the public’s call for accountability in Igbo Jah’s death, as the situation remains volatile.
