The resolution was reached after a marathon reconciliation meeting convened by Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, which lasted into Tuesday evening.
According to the communique issued after the talks, Dangote Group agreed to allow its workers to freely join recognised labour unions in line with Nigerian labour laws. The process of unionisation is expected to be completed within two weeks, from September 9 to 22, 2025.
The statement further assured that no employee of Dangote Refinery or Petrochemicals will face victimisation for participating in union activities.
Representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Dangote Group signed the agreement, while NUPENG formally announced the suspension of its industrial action with immediate effect.
This development clears the way for a return to normal operations in the petroleum sector, which had faced potential disruptions due to the strike.
