BREAKING: Court Remands Pastor Paul Enenche’s Brothers, Former Dunamis Pastor in Keffi Prison Over Alleged Defamation
By Okafor Joseph Afam | January 14, 2025
A Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has ordered the remand of Mr. Enenche Enenche and Alexander Enenche, brothers of Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Church, along with Pastor Abraham Daniel, a former pastor of the church, at the Keffi Custodial Centre in Nasarawa State.
The trio were reportedly detained on Monday evening following a remand order secured by the Nigerian Police Force. Sources revealed that the individuals had been in police custody since Monday morning after responding to an invitation by the Force Intelligence Department (FID).
The case revolves around allegations of cyberbullying and criminal defamation filed against Pastor Paul Enenche by his two brothers and the former pastor. Initially detained on January 7, 2025, they were granted bail the following day after reportedly agreeing to an amicable resolution.
However, the police summoned Mr. Enenche Enenche, Alexander Enenche, and Abraham Daniel to the FID on Friday, January 10, and Monday, January 13, 2025. Upon their appearance on Monday, they were reportedly held in custody until a Magistrate Court issued a remand order later in the evening.
Source Details
A source privy to the incident told Sahara Reporters:
“Upon honouring the police invitation, they were detained until the evening when a remand order was obtained from a Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6. They were then taken to Keffi Custodial Centre. The name of the magistrate and the duration of the remand order are yet to be disclosed.”
The source further disclosed plans to file a fundamental rights application on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, to challenge the detention.
Previous Developments
The legal battle traces back to earlier allegations by Pastor Abraham Daniel, accusing Pastor Paul Enenche of breaching an agreement and facilitating his imprisonment. Despite an initial resolution, the police reinstated the case, leading to the trio’s latest detention.
This incident has drawn public attention to the family and church’s internal disputes, raising questions about the role of the police and the judicial process in resolving such sensitive matters.
Efforts to reach representatives of Pastor Paul Enenche and the Nigerian Police for further clarification have been unsuccessful as of press time.
