Tamale, Ghana — The Ministry of Defence has launched an internal investigation after a significant quantity of military-grade ammunition was stolen from a secure Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) warehouse in Tamale.

What Happened:
The theft was discovered during a routine inspection earlier this week. Preliminary reports indicate that the incident may have been orchestrated by insiders with access to the armoury.

Official Statement:
Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul stated, “This breach is serious. We suspect insider collaboration and are working to recover the stolen items and prevent a recurrence.”

National Security at Risk?
Experts warn that such stolen weapons could fuel regional insecurity, particularly in areas bordering Burkina Faso and the Sahel.

Next Steps:
The GAF is now reviewing its inventory control systems and has introduced new security checks. A forensic audit is also underway.
