Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi has opened up on why he no longer collaborates closely with fellow comedian Basketmouth, despite their long history of working together on stage.
In a viral interview circulating on social media, Bovi revealed that the decision was driven by his desire for financial independence and personal growth.
He explained that constantly sharing performance earnings with colleagues after joint shows limited his opportunities, so he chose to build his own brand and focus on his solo career.
“Basketmouth and I are cool. Nothing happened. Interests changed. I wanted to focus more and spend more time with my family, and also to elevate myself.
“I easily get bored doing something for too long, so I try something else. As you know, I went back to TV because I wanted to build my own brand. When I host shows at Eko Hotels, it fills up. So, why should I go and share money? Why should we be many doing one show?” he said.
Bovi emphasized that the split wasn’t due to conflict but a natural career shift, allowing him to flourish independently in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
