A fresh video has surfaced showing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, calling for a worldwide fundraising campaign.
In the video, Kanu was heard instructing members of the Rising Sun Ambassadors to mobilize financial support for him across the globe. The discussion reportedly took place inside the courtroom of the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he was speaking with one of his lawyers, Barrister Maxwell Opara.
Kanu is currently standing trial before Justice James Omotosho on charges related to terrorism. He remains in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) while battling health challenges that have drawn public concern.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has stated that Kanu’s medical condition is not life-threatening.
This follows a directive from Justice Omotosho, who ordered an independent medical assessment to determine Kanu’s true health status after conflicting reports from doctors representing both the prosecution and the defence.
According to the panel’s findings, which were presented in court on October 13 by the prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, the report concluded that Kanu’s ailment poses no immediate danger to his life.
