The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect connected to the killing of a repentant bandit, Kyoga Joka, along the Sankera–Zaki-Biam highway in Ukum Local Government Area.

Joka was reportedly ambushed on September 29 by two armed men who rode into the area on a motorcycle and fatally shot him. His remains were later deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in Zaki-Biam.

Eyewitnesses linked the attack to associates of Chen, a notorious bandit kingpin said to be operating within the axis.

Police operatives revealed that one Teryila Kpogh, allegedly a member of Chen’s criminal gang, has been arrested in connection with the crime. Security agencies are now intensifying efforts to track down his fleeing accomplices.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken over the case and assured the public that further updates on the investigation will be communicated as operations progress.

Authorities have also reiterated their commitment to dismantling violent criminal networks and restoring safety across Benue communities.
