RB Leipzig have set a £69 million price tag on their prolific striker Benjamin Sesko, as Manchester United and Newcastle United intensify their efforts to secure his signature this summer.

The 22‑year‑old forward, who has impressed in the Bundesliga, was initially linked with Arsenal. However, the Gunners opted for Viktor Gyokeres, leaving the transfer race open for United and Newcastle to compete for Sesko’s services.

According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have already presented their project to Sesko, and the player is said to be impressed by the proposal. United manager Ruben Amorim is desperate for a new striker to replace underperforming Rasmus Hojlund, who scored only four league goals last season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United are also keen to add firepower to their squad. With Alexander Isak strongly linked to a move to Liverpool, manager Eddie Howe views Sesko as a potential replacement who could lead the line in the Champions League next season.

For Manchester United, the move is critical as they aim to bounce back from a disappointing 15th‑place finish in the 2024‑25 Premier League season. Failing to win the Europa League final has left the Red Devils without European football for 2025‑26, increasing the pressure on Amorim to deliver a turnaround.

For Newcastle, landing Sesko would reinforce their attack as they look to establish themselves among Europe’s elite after finishing fifth and returning to Champions League action. However, financial negotiations with Leipzig could determine which Premier League club wins the race for the highly sought‑after striker.

As the summer transfer window heats up, Benjamin Sesko’s next move could define the attacking ambitions of both Manchester United and Newcastle United heading into the 2025‑26 season.
