Former Senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, has opened up on his decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing President Bola Tinubu’s leadership vision and economic recovery efforts as his motivation.
Speaking on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme monitored on Thursday, Murray-Bruce clarified that his defection was not driven by political gain or loyalty to any party but by his confidence in President Tinubu’s capacity to rebuild Nigeria.
“It’s about leadership, not the party. Forget about party — parties are irrelevant. What matters is the man at the top,” he stated.
According to the media mogul and politician, President Tinubu has demonstrated the ability to lead Nigeria through tough economic reforms, assemble a competent team, and lay a foundation for sustainable recovery.
“President Tinubu has shown he can fix the economy and build a dream team. People expect instant results, but that’s unrealistic. Nigeria is like a patient recovering from surgery — healing takes time,” Murray-Bruce said.
He emphasized that his move to the APC was guided by belief in effective governance rather than political identity, adding that leadership with vision and courage is what the nation needs most at this time.
