Bayern Munich delivered a commanding performance to defeat Atalanta BC 6–1 in their UEFA Champions League encounter on Tuesday night at Gewiss Stadium.
The German champions wasted little time asserting control of the match. Josip Stanišić opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Michael Olise doubled the lead in the 22nd minute. Just three minutes later, Serge Gnabry added a third goal, leaving the Italian side struggling to keep up before halftime.
Bayern continued their attacking display in the second half. Nicolas Jackson extended the advantage in the 52nd minute, while Olise grabbed his second goal of the night in the 64th minute. Jamal Musiala sealed the dominant performance with another goal in the 67th minute.
Atalanta managed a late consolation when Mario Pašalić scored in stoppage time, but it did little to change the outcome of the match.
The encounter also saw several players cautioned by the referee. Atalanta’s Berat Djimsiti, Honest Ahanor, Yunus Musah, Raoul Bellanova, and Lazar Samardžić were all booked during the match. Bayern players Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka, Tom Bischof, and Raphaël Guerreiro also received yellow cards in a heated contest.
The emphatic win strengthens Bayern Munich’s position in the Champions League as they continue their pursuit of European glory.
