The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Salamatu Danjuma, for allegedly stabbing her husband to death in Nadabo village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been in a heated dispute over the custody of their six-year-old daughter.

“Despite initial discussions with her family that seemed to favour welcoming the child into their home, the husband later refused, which heightened tensions between them,” Wakil said.

The argument escalated, leading Salamatu to grab a knife from their bedroom and stab her husband during a confrontation.

Upon receiving a distress call, detectives from the Bununu Police Divisional Headquarters rushed to the scene and transported the victim to a Cottage Hospital in Bununu. However, medical personnel later confirmed his death.

The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation.

“Following the inquiry, appropriate legal actions will be taken,” Wakil assured.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents expressing concern over the rising cases of domestic violence.
