Bauchi Teen Arrested for Allegedly Plucking Sister’s Eyes in Shocking Money Ritual Attempt

Police operatives in Bauchi State have arrested a 17-year-old boy, Auwalu Mohammad, for allegedly gouging out the eyes of his younger sister, Rukayya Mohammad, in what authorities describe as a suspected ritual money attempt.
The tragic incident occurred on October 17 in Wailo community, located in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state. Reports indicate that Auwalu deceived his younger sister into following him into a nearby bush before attacking her and removing both of her eyes.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, the victim’s father confirmed that the suspect and victim are biological siblings. The girl was later rushed to a medical facility, where doctors confirmed that she had completely lost her sight.
SP Wakil disclosed that Auwalu confessed to committing the crime during interrogation and claimed he was influenced by a group promising him wealth through ritual means.
Police investigations have since led to the arrest of six additional suspects believed to have been connected to the crime. Those in custody include Auwal Dahiru (17) of Bayan Dutse, Mohammed Rabiu (19), Saleh Ibrahim (20), Nasiru Muhammad, Hassan Garba, and Garba Dahiru (43), all residents of Soro town, Ganjuwa LGA.
Wakil emphasized that the case is still under investigation to determine the full motive and to identify any spiritual or criminal network behind the incident.
“This is a deeply disturbing case. The command will ensure that everyone involved faces the full weight of the law,” SP Wakil assured.
The police urged parents and guardians to monitor their children closely and report suspicious movements to prevent similar acts of violence.
