A fresh wave of violence has hit Kano State as armed bandits launched an attack on a rural community, killing one resident and abducting another. The incident adds to a growing list of assaults and kidnapping attempts reported across border-area communities in the state.

Confirming the development, Auwalu Musa Yola, the Zonal Information Officer for Gwarzo Zone, said the attack mirrored previous patterns—late-night raids, abductions and increasing threats to vulnerable rural dwellers.

In response, the Executive Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Mani Tsoho Gwarzo, led an official delegation to sympathise with the people of Lakwaya Ward. The team included members of the Gwarzo Legislative Council, the Local Government Secretary and his deputy, the Divisional Police Officer, and representatives from the DSS, Immigration Service, Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies.

Expressing sorrow over the renewed violence, Mani promised stronger security interventions.

“This tragedy is deeply painful. We will act swiftly to safeguard lives and property. These attacks must not continue,” he assured.

A security officer at the scene also confirmed that increased surveillance, intelligence operations and expanded patrols had been activated to prevent further incidents.

Fati, the daughter of the kidnapped victim, Yakubu, narrated the terrifying moment the attackers stormed their home and appealed to authorities to intensify efforts to rescue her father.

Community leaders praised the quick response from the local government, noting that the condolence visit offered much-needed encouragement during a time of fear and uncertainty.

During the visit, Mani prayed for the soul of the deceased and for the safe return of the abducted resident, extending heartfelt sympathy to the family and the entire Lakwaya Ward.
