Several Nigerian actors, including Kunle Afolayan, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Ayo Adesanya, and Remi Surutu, have come under heavy criticism after unveiling a political support group backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group, known as “Eko 57 Movement,” was officially launched in Lagos State on Sunday and is reportedly being coordinated by actor Lege Miami.

However, the development has sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians expressing disappointment over the involvement of the celebrities at a time when the country is grappling with economic hardship, rising cost of living, insecurity, and poor infrastructure.

A viral video from the launch event triggered a wave of reactions across social media, where users accused the actors of being disconnected from the struggles of ordinary citizens. Critics argued that the country’s pressing issues—such as unstable electricity, high fuel prices, and a weak healthcare system—should take priority over political endorsements.

Some netizens also warned that public sympathy may not be extended to the celebrities in the future if they seek financial assistance during difficult times.

Others insisted that electoral reforms, particularly transparent and real-time transmission of election results, should be the focus of any meaningful movement in the country.

The controversy highlights growing public frustration and the widening gap between political elites, public figures, and everyday Nigerians facing economic challenges.
