ASUU Threatens Fresh Strike Over 18-Month Unpaid Allowances
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned of another possible showdown with the federal government over unpaid Earned Academic Allowances and delayed salary agreements.
ASUU president Chris Piwuna said lecturers are frustrated by the government’s failure to fully implement the 2025 agreement, revealing that some allowances have remained unpaid for 18 months. The union accused authorities of delaying payments and ignoring promises made to university workers.
