The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) chapter, has declared an indefinite strike over non-payment of lecturers’ salaries.

The decision was conveyed in a letter addressed to the institution’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, and signed by the branch Chairman, Dr. O. A. Fagbuagun, and the Financial Secretary, Mr. Ngwu Benitho.

According to the union, the industrial action will continue until all affected academic staff receive their outstanding payments.

The FUOYE ASUU leadership stressed that the action aligns with a directive from the ASUU National Executive Council (NEC), which mandates that:

“Where academic staff salaries are not paid by the third day of a new month, the branch concerned must suspend all academic activities until payment is made.”

In compliance with this directive, FUOYE lecturers have now withdrawn their services, declaring the strike total, comprehensive, and indefinite until the salary backlog is cleared.
