Story: written by Zara April 9,2026
Entries are now being accepted for the 2026 edition of the World’s Top Fintech Companies list, an annual ranking compiled by CNBC in collaboration with data analytics firm Statista.
The initiative, now in its fourth year, spotlights leading financial technology firms worldwide — from emerging startups to established global giants — across sectors such as digital payments, wealth tech, insurtech, and more.
Previous editions featured major players including Mastercard, Stripe, and Visa, alongside fast-growing innovators like Bilt, TerraPay, and Entsia.
This year’s ranking introduces a dedicated category for regulatory technology (regtech), highlighting companies that assist financial institutions in meeting compliance requirements.
The fintech industry has evolved rapidly in recent years, transitioning from a disruptive niche into a central pillar of the global financial ecosystem. Growth has been accelerated by the digital transformation wave during the COVID-19 era and further boosted by advancements in artificial intelligence.
According to a recent report by KPMG, the sector attracted $44.7 billion in investments across more than 2,200 deals in the first half of 2025, slightly down from $54.2 billion recorded in the preceding six months.
How to Apply
Eligible companies can submit their entries through the official application platform managed by Statista. Applicants are required to provide details about their business model, as well as key performance metrics such as revenue growth and workforce size.
Only firms focused on delivering innovative, technology-driven financial products and services will be considered.
