Anthony Joshua Warned: Fighting Jake Paul Could Ruin His Credibility

Boxing pundits have warned Anthony Joshua against fighting Jake Paul, stating that such a bout could damage his credibility as a serious heavyweight contender.
TalkSPORT’s Fight Night hosts, Spencer Oliver and Gareth A. Davies, believe Joshua should focus on legitimate boxing challenges rather than a lucrative but uncompetitive showdown with Paul.
Paul recently called out Joshua on social media, criticizing his skills and chin. Joshua responded by revealing they had a five-minute phone conversation, teasing a potential fight with the caption “2026.”
However, after suffering a shocking defeat to Daniel Dubois in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium last September, Joshua’s priority should be rebuilding his career. His initial plan was to fight Tyson Fury, but the ‘Gypsy King’ announced his retirement, leaving Joshua’s next move uncertain.
While acknowledging that a fight with Paul could generate massive revenue, Oliver and Davies insist it would not be the right decision at this stage.
“One thing that Jake Paul does is draw huge numbers,” Oliver said on Fight Night. “But do we want to see it? No. I think we could see it, but later rather than sooner.”
For now, Joshua is expected to pursue a return to top-level heavyweight boxing, potentially targeting opponents like Deontay Wilder, Oleksandr Usyk, or a Dubois rematch.
