London, United KingdomTwo-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has revealed that 2025 may be his final year in professional boxing, signaling the possible end of a 12-year career that has seen him rise to global stardom.

The 35‑year‑old British boxer, who turned professional in 2013, has been out of the ring since September 2024, when he suffered a fifth‑round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. He is expected to return for at least one more fight later this year, but has now hinted that it could be his farewell bout.

Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Joshua said he plans to throw his “last punch” in 2025, bringing an end to a career defined by Olympic gold, multiple heavyweight titles, and blockbuster fights.

“Long may you reign supreme and keep giving fighters opportunities to become champions and make boxing great,” Joshua said, paying tribute to MatchRoom Boxing, the promoters who have managed his career from the start.

“Twelve years ago, I signed with you and 12 years later, I will throw my last punch with you.”

Joshua’s comments have sparked widespread speculation about his retirement plans, with fans wondering if his next fight will serve as his career swan song.

If confirmed, his departure will mark the end of an era in British boxing, as Joshua has been one of the most marketable and successful fighters of his generation, holding the IBF, WBA, and WBO heavyweight titles during his peak years.
