“Anambra State Bans Mobile Phones in Schools to Boost Student Focus and Academic Performance”

According to Ikediugwu, the increasing use of mobile phones by students during school hours has become a major distraction, affecting their concentration and overall academic performance. To address this challenge, she directed principals and teachers to seize any mobile phones brought to school by students.
“I am authorising principals and teachers to confiscate phones from students who come to school with them so that we can ensure that students concentrate on their academic work without the interference of phones,” she said.
Ikediugwu further stated that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed to improving the education sector by promoting academic excellence and instilling discipline among students.
While addressing the students on the importance of cultural values, Ikediugwu emphasized the beauty and uniqueness of the Igbo tradition. She urged students to embrace the core values of the Igbo people, such as honesty, hard work, respect for elders, and truthfulness.
“Igbo culture extends beyond clothing and dancing. It is important to continuously educate our students on the values and norms of Ndigbo to preserve our rich heritage,” she added.
The ban on mobile phones in schools is expected to create a more focused learning environment and help students achieve better academic results.
