AWKA, Nigeria — In a major move to strengthen the fight against criminal elements in Anambra State, the Nigeria Police Force has delivered a new Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) to the Anambra State Police Command.

The armoured vehicle, delivered by the Force Headquarters under the directive of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is expected to significantly bolster the Command’s operational efficiency in tackling insecurity and violent crimes in the state.

Receiving the heavy-duty military-grade equipment, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, expressed gratitude to the IGP for the strategic intervention. He noted that the delivery of the APC marks a critical step forward in the Command’s efforts to enhance security across the state.

In an official statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner said:

“This critical asset will significantly enhance the Command’s operational capacity, especially in tackling emerging security challenges and strengthening the ongoing efforts toward maintaining peace, law, and order across the state.”

CP Orutugu reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents and called for sustained cooperation from the public in combating crime.

He also commended the Inspector General of Police for his continuous support, which he said has led to improved logistics, better welfare for officers, and boosted morale within the force.

“The proactive leadership of IGP Kayode Egbetokun continues to reflect positively across police formations nationwide, and Anambra is no exception,” the CP added.

The deployment of the armoured tank is expected to support ongoing police operations in hotspot areas across the state, where gunmen and other criminal groups have posed serious threats in recent months.
