Anambra Governorship: AAC Rejects Election Outcome, Alleges Widespread Irregularities

The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally rejected the results of the recent Anambra State governorship election, citing widespread electoral malpractices and breaches of procedure.

The party has demanded a thorough and transparent investigation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). AAC’s governorship candidate, Chioma Ifemeludike, also condemned the poll, alleging massive vote buying across the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, AAC Campaign Publicity Secretary, Chimezie Nwokeanochie, said reports from party agents and independent election monitors revealed that the election was marred by irregularities, vote buying, and violations of established electoral rules.

“The African Action Congress expresses deep dissatisfaction with the conduct and results of the Anambra State governorship election held on 8 November 2025,” Nwokeanochie said. “Credible reports indicate that the process involved breaches that compromised ballot secrecy and undermined the integrity of the vote.”

He added that the AAC believes elections must be transparent, credible, and truly reflect the will of the people, stressing that the irregularities observed have eroded public confidence in the outcome.

INEC had declared APGA candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the winner, with 422,664 votes, defeating APC’s Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu who scored 99,445 votes, while YPP’s Sir Paul Chukwuma came third with 37,753 votes.
