Amotekun Arrests Suspected Armed Robber, Recovers Stolen Motorcycle in Odogbolu, Ogun State

Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have apprehended a 25-year-old armed robbery suspect, recovering a stolen motorcycle following a brutal attack in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspect, Igwe Chijioke, an indigene of Ebonyi State, was arrested while attempting to flee the scene of the crime along Itorin Road, before Ososa Junction, over the weekend.
According to reports, a four-man robbery gang attacked a motorcyclist, Tosin Olawoyin, and his passenger. The assailants used a machete and axe to inflict severe head injuries on the rider before making away with his motorcycle.
Amotekun Responds Swiftly to Distress Call
Confirming the arrest on Sunday, the Deputy Commander of Amotekun in Ogun State, Tajudeen Bakare (rtd), said officers from Base 5 in Odogbolu responded immediately to a distress call from a tipper driver who witnessed the attack.
“Upon reaching the scene, our operatives found the motorcyclist in critical condition, lying in a pool of blood,” Bakare stated.
“Our men pursued the fleeing suspects and successfully apprehended Igwe Chijioke, who was caught trying to escape with the stolen motorcycle.”
Suspect Confesses to Crime
During interrogation, Chijioke reportedly confessed to participating in the robbery and assault alongside three other accomplices who are still at large.
“He admitted to the attack and theft, identifying the three other suspects who are currently on the run,” Bakare added.
Victim Hospitalized, Police Take Over Case
The injured motorcyclist was rushed to Oore-Ofe El-Shaddai Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, where he received emergency treatment and remains under medical care.
The recovered motorcycle and the arrested suspect have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and prosecution.
