Alisson Defends Slot, Says Salah’s Omission from Liverpool Squad Is Consequence of His Actions

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has suggested that Mohamed Salah’s exclusion from the team’s squad was a direct result of his own actions, while expressing full support for manager Arne Slot.

The Brazilian made the comments following Slot’s decision to leave Salah out of Liverpool’s squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Inter Milan. Slot had cited the Egyptian winger’s recent controversial remarks about the club “throwing him under the bus” as a factor in the decision.

“Salah not being available is a consequence of what he did. He’s smart enough to understand that,” Alisson told reporters, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He added that he maintains a good relationship with Salah, calling him a Liverpool legend. “We will have a conversation, but it’s private because it’s personal. I don’t think Mo intended to disrespect anyone… he just expressed how he feels about his situation.”

Alisson emphasized his hope that Salah will play for Liverpool again but said the matter is between the winger and the club.

On backing Slot, Alisson said: “Do I support Arne Slot? Absolutely. We won the Premier League last season under him. His knowledge and style of play deserve respect, and we trust his decisions.”
