Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has promised to support both Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air following the recent controversy involving the passenger and the state-owned airline.

Speaking during a grand reception in his hometown, Nsit Ubium, on Saturday, August 24, 2025, Governor Eno stressed that both Emmanson, an indigene of Akwa Ibom, and the airline are “children of the state” and must be treated with equal concern.

The governor, without revealing the specifics of his planned intervention, urged Akwa Ibom residents not to take sides but to protect the image of the airline while also showing compassion to Emmanson, who had earlier narrated the trauma she faced after her clash with airline crew members.

Recall that Emmanson was initially remanded after the altercation but later pardoned by Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo. She has since claimed that the incident left her emotionally distressed and socially withdrawn.

Governor Eno said:

“We will continue to support our flagship airline, Ibom Air. Every Akwa Ibom person should be proud of the airline which has flown our colours. Our money is invested in Ibom Air, so we must protect it. At the same time, the lady is our daughter. When two people fight, there must be someone to separate them. Whatever mistakes were made, both parties belong to us.”

The governor reiterated that his administration remains committed to protecting the interests of both Ibom Air and its citizens, emphasizing reconciliation and unity over conflict.
