Nigerian football star Ahmed Musa has officially retired from international football, ending a remarkable 15-year career with the Super Eagles.

Musa, who currently serves as General Manager of Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), made the announcement on social media on Wednesday.

“I wore this badge with pride for 15 years. From a 17-year-old boy answering every call to becoming the most capped Super Eagle with 111 appearances. AFCON champion. Nigeria’s highest World Cup goalscorer. Captain. Servant. Believer. I gave everything. Thank you Nigeria… my heart will always beat green,” he wrote on X.

The 33-year-old made his international debut on 5 September 2010 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Madagascar. He was a key member of the Super Eagles team that lifted the 2013 AFCON trophy in South Africa.

Musa also holds the distinction of being the only Nigerian to score more than once in a single FIFA World Cup match, cementing his legacy in Nigerian football history.
