The Nafiu Bala Gombe-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his recent meeting with individuals claiming to be ADC stakeholders in Adamawa State.
In a statement released by the faction’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Dr Christopher Okechukwu, the group described the meeting as politically driven and without any official backing from the party’s national leadership.
According to the statement, the gathering was “a sham” aimed at creating a misleading impression of legitimacy and support within the party’s structure.
“The National Leadership of the ADC wishes to draw public attention to a concerning development. The so-called meeting between Atiku and a group of self-proclaimed ADC stakeholders in Adamawa is invalid and raises serious questions,” Okechukwu stated.
He alleged that most of those who attended the meeting were former members of the APC and PDP who left their parties after losing relevance, questioning their sudden interest in ADC affairs.
Okechukwu further argued that the meeting lacked authenticity, describing it as a calculated publicity stunt meant to create the illusion of political acceptance.
“This gathering does not reflect the genuine spirit or vision of the ADC in Adamawa or anywhere else. It is an attempt to fabricate legitimacy where none exists,” he added.
The faction called on Nigerians, political analysts, and coalition partners to remain vigilant, emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability, and due process in all political alliances and collaborations.
“The public must question the motives behind such meetings and demand sincerity from those seeking political alignment with our party,” the statement concluded.
