Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje disclosed in a statement on Sunday that the command received a report from the victim’s mother, Hadiza Bashiru, who said her son was missing and was last seen with Hassan.
Acting on the report, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno launched a swift operation that led to Hassan’s arrest.
During interrogation, Hassan allegedly confessed to conspiring with an accomplice, who is currently on the run, to kill the child. He further admitted that they buried the boy in a shallow grave.
“The corpse was exhumed and taken to the hospital for autopsy,” Nguroje stated.
He added that the Adamawa Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect.
The police command reassured the public of its commitment to securing justice and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies in the fight against violent crime across the state.
