Abia Police Arrest 68-Year-Old Woman for Beating Young Lady to Death with Cane

The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 68-year-old woman, Mrs. Victoria Madubuko of Ndiambe Ozuitem in Bende Local Government Area, for allegedly flogging a 22-year-old girl, Nnenna Eke, to death with a traditional cane known as Okpete.
Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, confirmed the incident on Tuesday while briefing journalists at the police headquarters in Umuahia.
According to him, the victim reportedly fell ill shortly after the severe beating and was rushed to Tochi Hospital, where doctors certified her dead. Her remains have since been deposited at a mortuary in Akaelu, Bende LGA.
The CP disclosed that Mrs. Madubuko has been taken into custody, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has commenced a full probe into the matter.
In a separate development, the police also reported the killing of a 31-year-old man, Chinonso Chukwuemeka, from Abayi village. He was fatally stabbed in the chest during a dispute over a business transaction by one Chimaobi Nwanne, also from the same community.
The victim was rushed to Akachukwu Hospital, Eastern Ngwa, but was later confirmed dead by doctors.
CP Isa revealed that the suspect fled to Umuezenta Mbasi village after the attack but was apprehended by operatives from the Eastern Ngwa Divisional Headquarters. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
