Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has dismissed corruption allegations leveled against his administration, describing the claims as politically motivated tactics by opposition figures seeking settlement, negotiation, recognition, or relevance ahead of the next election.
Speaking in Aba on Thursday at the Aba Stakeholders’ Security Trust Fund raising luncheon, Otti assured the business community that all state funds, including those dedicated to security, remain safe and well-managed.
He stressed that security is the foundation of development and reiterated his administration’s commitment to accountability.
“In Abia, there is nothing like opposition. You may see a few people who want to get recognition. Some of them want to be settled. Some of them are preparing to run for election. So, they want to be relevant,” Otti said.
The governor further dismissed reports that state money was missing, telling Abia citizens to “go and sleep” with confidence that their resources are secure.
Highlighting his administration’s infrastructure drive, Otti announced that the newly reconstructed Port Harcourt Road, Aba, along with six other roads, will be commissioned on October 3, 2025, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He also revealed that the state government had finalized documentation for the revival of the long-abandoned Enyimba Hotel, Aba, with work set to commence soon.
Earlier, Leo Ike Okoye, Chairman of the event, commended Otti for his achievements in security, infrastructure, and water projects across Aba and the state, while urging stakeholders to give him more support.
