The Abia State government has dismissed as false and misleading a viral social media report claiming that Governor Alex Otti said he had no business with Lagos and would make the state “look like a village.”

The report, titled “Governor Otti fires back over demolition of Igbo businesses,” alleged that the Abia governor boasted of transforming Abia to surpass Lagos, China, and Dubai.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday night, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, described the circulating quote as “baseless propaganda” fabricated by “angry and frustrated politicians.”

Ekeoma said Governor Otti is not known for arrogance or divisive rhetoric, adding that the governor values humility, unity, and mutual respect among Nigerians.

“Governor Otti has a longstanding friendship with his brother, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos. Speaking directly with him on any issue, whether publicly or privately, is something he can easily do,” Ekeoma explained.

He alleged that those behind the fake statement were the same individuals who authored petitions and inciting materials soon after learning that President Bola Tinubu would visit Abia to commission projects.

The Abia government therefore urged the public to disregard the viral post, insisting that Governor Otti remains focused on developing Abia State without engaging in unnecessary political distractions or rivalry.
