24 hours later, MTN resumes operations after nationwide shutdown
Telecommunications provider, MTN Nigeria has resumed nationwide operations after announcing a nationwide shutdown on Tuesday.
The telecommunication outfit took to its official X (formerly Twitter) platform to announce that its physical shops would be open to customers from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
.Y’ello customer, please note that our shops nationwide will be open today, 31 July. Operating hours: 8.00 am-3:00 pm. We are also available 24/7 to support you via digital channels,” the operator said.
Ripples Nigeria had reported that MTN Nigeria ordered the closure of its offices nationwide due to the violence that broke out over the disconnection of some MTN lines
Trouble had started after telecom providers like MTN, Airtel, Glo reportedly disconnected some subscribers for failing to link their National Identification Number NIN to their SIM cards
Some angry users who were affected by the disconnection had stormed several offices of the network providers and wreaked havoc in the process.
The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC had to wade in by ordering MTN and other telcos to restore the lines temporarily.
However, still worried that violence could still ensue, the telecommunications outfit in a message to its customers on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 announced the closure of its offices nationwide.
