2027: Wike Says Atiku, Obi Could Target Him First If Tinubu Loses
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he expects to face political consequences early if President Bola Tinubu is defeated in the 2027 presidential election by either former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi.
Wike made the statement during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he spoke about his unwavering support for Tinubu’s second-term bid. He said his open backing of the President has made him a prominent target among opposition politicians.
According to the FCT Minister, he is fully aware of the political risks associated with his position but remains committed to supporting Tinubu regardless of the possible consequences.
“I will be the first politician that I think they will come after. I will be the first politician. I know they will come for my head,” Wike said.
Wike further stated that Tinubu’s re-election occupies his thoughts daily, stressing that his political focus is centred on ensuring victory for the President in 2027.
He also dismissed the criticism directed at him over his alliance with Tinubu, saying he remains unshaken despite the backlash.
The comments come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with Tinubu expected to face opposition from major political figures, including Atiku and Obi.
