Abuja, Nigeria — In a major political development, top opposition leaders—including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso—have announced the formation of a new political alliance aimed at unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.
Operating under the banner of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), the alliance says it seeks to restore democratic competition and end what it describes as “one-party dominance” under President Bola Tinubu.
“This coalition isn’t about individuals. It’s about rescuing Nigeria from a deepening governance crisis,” said a statement from the group.
Political observers say the move could reshape Nigeria’s political landscape, especially if the opposition manages to stay united leading into the next general elections. However, doubts remain about whether the parties involved can set aside personal ambitions and forge a cohesive platform.
