2027: Anyone Planning to Manipulate Abia Governorship Election Should Prepare Their Wills — Governor Alex Otti Warns

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has cautioned political actors plotting to rig the 2027 governorship election in the state to rethink their plans, warning that the will of God and the mandate of the people will ultimately prevail.

Speaking during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians held at the Government House in Umuahia on Thursday, the governor declared that anyone preparing to subvert the people’s choice should first “write their wills.”

Otti made the statement in reaction to comments credited to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who had boasted that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), would take over Abia in 2027.

While dismissing the claim, Governor Otti emphasized that he harbors no fear about any political contest, adding that Kalu, like any other politician, has the right to contest the governorship election but must do so in line with democratic rules.

“I’ve heard some people saying they must take over this state and write results. My advice to them is simple — before they start writing results, they should first write their wills,” Otti said.

Describing Kalu as a friend and younger brother, Otti said he has forgiven him for his recent remarks against his person and administration but urged all political actors to maintain peace and decorum in the state.

Governor Otti also reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, clarifying that he has no intention of defecting to the APC.
