England head coach Thomas Tuchel has praised Noni Madueke following the winger’s performance in the Three Lions’ 5-0 victory over Serbia in Tuesday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Madueke netted England’s second goal in the 35th minute, while Harry Kane, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi, and substitute Marcus Rashford (penalty) were also on target at the Rajko Mitic Stadium in Belgrade.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Tuchel said he was impressed with Madueke’s attitude and work rate, highlighting the Arsenal winger’s hunger and willingness to track back defensively.

“I’m most happy about his attitude today, the reaction after ball losses, and the work he put in to help Reece [James]. The work-rate is what I like the most in his performance. From there, he’s fast, direct, he likes to dribble – that’s exactly what we want from him,” Tuchel said.

However, the former Chelsea boss also stressed that Madueke must remain focused and consistent to cement his place in the squad.

The victory keeps England seven points clear of Armenia in Group K, with their next qualifier against Latvia in October, where Madueke will be hoping to keep his spot in Tuchel’s starting XI.
