2026 World Cup Qualifier: Tolu Arokodare to Lead Super Eagles Attack Against South Africa
Story: written by Okafor Joseph September 9,2025
Tolu Arokodare is set to spearhead the Super Eagles attack when Nigeria faces South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in tonight’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The Super Eagles will be without star striker Victor Osimhen, who picked up an injury during Nigeria’s matchday seven victory over Rwanda last Saturday. Osimhen has since returned to Galatasaray for treatment.
Arokodare, who scored the decisive goal against the Amavubi, delivered a standout performance and was named Player of the Match.
With Osimhen sidelined, head coach Eric Chelle is expected to place his trust in the 24-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers forward to deliver in front of goal.
So far, Arokodare has netted two goals in five appearances for the Super Eagles, and fans will be looking to him to step up in what promises to be a high-stakes encounter against Bafana Bafana.
