Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, has expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to counter any strategy Rwanda may deploy. Speaking ahead of the matchday 2 encounter in Kigali, Eguavoen emphasized that the Super Eagles are well-prepared for the crucial fixture in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
“We have players who are versatile and can adapt to different situations. No matter what style or formation Rwanda brings, we are ready to respond,” Eguavoen stated during the pre-match press conference. “The team has been working hard, and we have studied Rwanda’s game closely.”
The Super Eagles, buoyed by a victory in their first qualifier, are determined to secure another win that would strengthen their position in the group. However, Eguavoen remains cautious, acknowledging the potential challenge Rwanda poses on home soil.
“Rwanda is a strong team, especially at home, and we respect that. But we are confident in our preparations and our players’ abilities. We will go out there and execute our game plan,” Eguavoen added.
The match, scheduled for Tuesday in Kigali, has been highly anticipated by fans of both nations. With the Super Eagles aiming to maintain their perfect start in the qualifiers, all eyes will be on Eguavoen’s tactical approach and the performance of key players such as Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Samuel Chukwueze.
Eguavoen, who stepped in as interim coach after the departure of Jose Peseiro, will be looking to make a strong case for retaining the role permanently with a positive result in Rwanda.
