According to police spokesperson DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the incident happened on September 13, around 6:30 p.m., at a construction site along Litaye Camp near Lake Road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ibrahim went to the site to demand ₦14,000 from Gabriel Oyeniran, money owed for wood previously purchased. The disagreement escalated into a quarrel, during which Ibrahim allegedly pulled a knife.
“In the course of the altercation, the suspect, Wale Ibrahim, stabbed one Fisayo Ajetumobi who was present at the scene, leaving him with a fatal chest wound,” Ayanlade explained.
The victim died instantly, while the suspect was subdued and handed over to the police. Investigations have since been completed, and Ibrahim has been charged in court for prosecution.
Reacting to the tragedy, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, condemned the act, describing it as a needless loss of life.
He stressed that the police would not tolerate violent disputes and urged residents to resolve disagreements peacefully.
“This was a senseless and avoidable killing. The police remain committed to protecting lives and property across Ondo State. We appeal to citizens to support us with credible information to help prevent future crimes,” the CP said.
