Saturday, May 23,2020

Newcastle’s £300m takeover has progressed to the final stages of the Premier League’s owner’s and director’s test, and is now on course to be announced in the coming week. The takeover, which will see Mike Ashley finally ousted as Newcastle owner, has been bubbling away for weeks as talks continue to get it over the line.

And, according to the Chronicle, the deal is close to being finalised by the Premier League.

They report that the tests from the Premier League have not encountered ‘any red flags’.

The deal will put Newcastle among the wealthiest clubs in world football and has already seen them linked with a handful of new signings and managers.

Steve Bruce and his players have returned to training this week having undertaken their initial COVID-19 test last weekend.

Premier League players are undergoing a second test today following the phase one training restart.

And all being well the next step into contact training could begin on June 1 before the resumption of the football season later in June.
